Why can't my business be verified?

1. The submitted document is not an accepted type

Make sure you submitted a document from the list of supporting documents.:

  • Business license and permits from local, state or federal government

  • Certificate of formation or incorporation

  • Business Tax or VAT registration certificate

  • EIN confirmation letter from the IRS (U.S. only)

  • Official tax notices from the IRS (U.S. only)

  • Business bank account statements

  • Business credit report from one of the reporting agencies

2. Submission incomplete

It's possible your submission is incomplete (maybe your internet was off, my you forgot to hit "Submit"). Make sure your submission is complete by going to your Business Manager.
You'll need to upload the approved registration certificate with a signature and/or official seal.

3. Document language is unsupported

Find out if your language is supported in the verify your business article.

If not, get your supporting documents translated into English. They must also have the translating agency's official stamp.

4. Document isn't viewable

Try scanning your document at a higher resolution or format!

5. Document is expired

If your document is expired, please renew and upload a new document with a current effective date. If the document is ex[ired, Facebook wouldn't be able to process it.

6. Document doesn't contain a legal business name 

Provide an accepted document that includes your business' legal name exactly as it appears in your Business Settings.

Here are the type of document acceptable in order to verify your business legal name:

  • Business license and permits from local, state or federal government

  • Certificate of formation or incorporation

  • Business Tax or VAT registration certificate

  • EIN confirmation letter from the IRS (U.S. only)

  • Official tax notices from the IRS (U.S. only)

  • Business bank account statements

  • Business credit report from one of the reporting agencies

7. Name on document doesn't match business name

Go to Business Settings and update the business' legal name exactly as it appears on your supporting document or provide an accepted document that includes your business' legal name exactly as it appears in your Business Settings.

8. Document doesn't contain a business address, only a partial address, or doesn't match your business address

Upload a new document that includes both your business' legal name AND the address.

Here's a list of acceptable documents in order to verify you business address:

  • Utility bills like a phone or electricity bill

  • Bank statement

  • Business licenses and permits from any level of government

  • Certificate of formation or incorporation

  • Business Tax or VAT registration certificate

  • EIN confirmation letter from the IRS (U.S. only)

  • Federal tax returns to the IRS by the company (U.S. only)

  • Business bank account statements

  • Business credit report from one of the reporting agencies

9. Document doesn't contain a business phone number or doesn't match your business phone number

Try uploading a new document that includes both your business' legal name AND matching phone number.

10. Additional documents required for verification

Make sure that your business name always appears on the docs. For example, a utility bill with a phone number and no business name is not enough to confirm a phone number. Find the list of acceptable document types in the verify your business article.

11. You own your website domain but aren't making it through verification

Your email domain and web address should match. Your website content should feature your company’s name or logo.
